Microsoft is set to retire several certifications and bring in a new batch with a new focus on AI using CoPilot. Upcoming beta exams start this month and will lead into the final versions being completed and releasing by the end of August 2026.
If you’re already invested and ready for the exam, go ahead and take it. The retirement does not make the certification any less valuable or invalid. If you’re just starting to study, it’s best to start studying for the updated version. While most materials will still be relevant, be sure to focus on some of the AI aspects of it as well. If you’re ready for the exam and the AI aspects, you can usually grab a seat for the beta exam (typically at an 80% discount) to help with the scoring and development for the final exam, so be sure to leave some comments if you do.
With AI, it’s either “slop” or it’s a very valuable tool in your toolbox. For many, having AI as a tool is very helpful. With many of the AI additions in Azure and elsewhere, it’s something worth learning and using to help make your job a little easier.
