For all those that haven’t tried it, or that aren’t tired of the Angry Birds and thieving pigs, Angry Birds is now available in the Windows Marketplace for Windows Phone 7. Personally, I played it a lot when it was first released on Android, then a bit on the PC… Unless it has all new levels, I think I’ll pass on this one. Great game, but it does get old…. And it is an older game now.

Many new PC’s come with a memory card reader installed. When you open Windows Explorer, you can’t really where they are. Windows has an option in the Folder Options that allows you to view all the drives, along with the drive letters assigned to them. Follow these few easy steps to get this as default.
1. Open Control Panel. Start > Control Panel.
2. Open Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab. Then UN-Check the option that says “Hide empty drives in the Computer folder”. Then click OK.
4. Now, when you browse your computer using Windows Explorer, you will notice a few extra drives. Do note that if you try to open one without a card installed, you will get an error.
Android tablets are somewhat flakey when it comes to performance and sales. Sure, there are some great ones out there (Zoom, for example), but there are a lot of duds, as well. With the release of Windows 8, tablet vendors are set to change their alliances from the Google Android based operating system to a tablet focused Windows 8 powered by Intel processors. How this will end? I’m betting that a Windows based tablet will be a lot better than an Android one.
Why? Because Android is open source and it can be customized to the hilt (my phone is completely custom using Android as it’s base) and Windows is closed source. With the OS being stable and closed, it will run on the hardware with the same performance and stability of Windows PC’s and Windows phone. A lot of the issues surrounding the Android tablets are that they are customized for the hardware being used, software applications specific to that model, etc..
Only time will tell, but I see the Windows 8 powered tablet using Intel hardware the next logical step to compete with Apple’s iPad (which is also a closed system). Apple has the tablet market cornered, and Microsoft may be the one to take some market share from the mighty Apple. Of course, I doubt that they will completely steal the tablet market, but innovation comes from the competition. Maybe the next iPad will have more than just a few extra MB’s…
Intel and Microsoft are jointly touting a new Wintel-based platform for tablet PCs, raising hopes among non-iPad tablet PC vendors that they may be able to compete more effectively with Apple in the segment in 2012 with models other than ARM/Android-based products, according to industry sources.
Microsoft and Apple have been at war and in major competition for quite a long time in technology time. From the first release of Windows in 1985 to Windows 7 and Mac OSX: Lion, it seems that the end will never come. I’m not even going to mention the stock prices on the bottom of this infographic that shows a decline in 2003, just 3 years after Ballmer took over the reigns. Seems somewhat flat since then, doesn’t it? Source: Manolution.com
The new Mango update brings with it a few new features in the Games Hub. It looks different, and is easier to use.
I used to play games on my Xbox only on the weekends. Now that I work on and own a Windows Phone, I play them at least once a day. As a new “avid gamer” and one of the program managers behind the Games Hub, I’m excited to take you on a gamer’s tour of Mango, the next release of Windows Phone coming this fall.
One of the first things you’ll notice about the Games Hub in Mango is its new look: A cleaner and lighter design that emphasizes your game collection and Xbox LIVE info—the heart of the hub. Responding to your feedback, we also made tweaks to improve the overall performance and speed.
As it is tradition, Microsoft’s IE team sent Mozilla a cupcake for releasing a new edition of Firefox: Version 5 (Available to download here). I love friendly competition. ![]()
It seems that even the Mighty Microsoft isn’t immune to the cloud failures similar to Amazon. Apparently, Microsoft’s was due to a “hardware failure” rather than a network engineer’s mistake. Microsoft’s also lasted a lot shorter than Amazon’s cloudy day.
Users on the forum were also complaining that BPOS outages seem to be frequent. Writes Beverley Seche, "I contacted them and they told me they are experiencing sign on issue, i told them you not only experiencing that you also experiencing webaccess issue.. I’m very disspointed in bpos this is the 4 down in 2 months and this is supposed to be reliable. We went from in house groupwise to hosted Microsoft bpos not only we’re getting culture shock we’re getting down time.. :("
Nokia’s CEO has shown off the Windows Phone 7 to Nokia employees which “secretly” posted the video online. A 21 minute video shows the new phone. This means that in 3 years, Verizon will start selling the phone. ![]()
Here’s a shorter clip of the video showing the phone:
Cannes Lions explains how interactive advertising using the Kinect would work. Or wouldn’t work. Doesn’t really appeal to me. Of course, 99% of the advertising I know doesn’t even relate to me anyway. It looks like there might be a few ways I could use it, but very rarely. Does anyone else think they’d never use this?
